Since I got Serge Lutens’ Sa Majeste la Rose Eau de Parfum, I was holding Serge Lutens in great esteem for the uniqueness and complexity of the olfactory creations presented by the brand. When I got the news that the brand launched a new fragrance, La Religieuse Eau de Parfum Serge Lutens, on January 30, 2015, I was very excited to try it. It was an instant love the moment this scent touched the skin on my wrist. My first impression was a very complex floral composition, which I was not sure about, but was definitely beautiful and sophisticated. The theme of this new scent, as described by the brand, is exploring the depths of philosophical and religious. This amazing olfactory composition was constructed as a symbolic fight of good and evil and a contrasting experience of black and white.
The scent is positioned as a unisex scent, but I can hardly imagine a man wearing this perfume, because, in my opinion, it is more feminine than masculine. It comes in a Serge Lutens regular rectangular-shaped glass bottle that has two interchangeable caps: the splash and the spray caps. The composition if amazing. The Jasmine at the heart of this scent, the embodiment of pure, clean and white as snow, represents the white or bright side of this fragrance, while the aromas of Civet, Musk and Incense resonate with Jasmine bringing forward the black or dark side of the fragrance, the Lutens’ religion, which is mysterious and dark. As if to add more drama to the presentation, the fragrance fluid is colored in dark purple.
I can see myself wearing this perfume both day and night, because it is deep and sophisticated, yet not heavy at all. The silage is medium and the perfume last on the skin for more than 8 hours, transforming into a sparkling beautiful aroma. It lingers on clothes forever. If you love complex and sophisticated floral scents and also floral oriental scents, you most likely to love this new and amazing perfume from Serge Lutens.
