I got a box of interesting chocolate truffles today, Pink Marc De Champagne Truffles by Charbonnel Et Walker. I have never heard about the brand and after conducting a small internet research I found out that this is a UK brand and that Pink Marc De Champagne Truffles is the best selling product. I guess, I was the only person in the world who was left clueless as for the brand and these pink chocolate truffles advertised on there website as “world-renowned item”. Speaking about the chocolate, in my opinion, the pink chocolate truffles are delicious but really nothing spectacular, like my all time favorite Hazelnut Five Star Bars from Lake Champlain Chocolates. The Charbonnel Et Walker Pink Marc De Champagne Truffles are made of pink colored milk chocolate, butter and Marc de Champagne centre, and finished with a light dusting of icing sugar.
As for the brand, Charbonnel et Walker was founded more than a century ago, in 1875 and is one of Britain’s earliest chocolatiers. Encouraged by Edward VII, (then the Prince of Wales), the company first formed as a partnership between Mrs Walker and Mme. Charbonnel, the latter from the Maison Boissier chocolate house in Paris. Charbonnel et Walke original shop was opened at 173 New Bond Street in Mayfair and has remained in Bond Street ever since. It is now housed in one of London’s elegant arcades, the Royal Arcade on Old Bond Street, so when I am in London next time, I will make sure to visit the store, just to see it for myself. The company is proud and privileged to be endorsed by the Royal Warrant as chocolate manufacturers to Her Majesty The Queen.
The Charbonnel et Walker chocolates are hand-made according to old traditional recipes. It turns out that the brand is particularly renowned for its dark chocolate, made from the finest dark couverture, which has a luscious richness and unforgettable silky taste. The luxurious hand made boxes, satin ribbons and complimentary gift-wrapping complete the perfect gift for every occasion. The pink truffles are good chocolates that I received as a gift, but not as good as to make me go back and purchase them myself.
